Can food leading to thoughts

The thought of ‘Why should there be vegetarian-animal-substitute? Like vegetarian chicken and pork to name a few’ this though arises when I saw this canned of vegetarian chicken in the midst of can+s.

Buddha teaches against killing thus eating animal is a taboo for some. Having a substitute isn’t that just an alternative to fulfill the desire of eating them. The desire alone is indirectly eating them, I should say.

Talking about Buddha bring me to 1 thought from the scripture ‘The world lives for eternal as it doesn’t live for itself. We human will perish as we live for ourselves’. I was like Oooo when I read it over somewhere.

Right so there are 2 dinner for me to attend in the midst of examination period? A booster shot or a energy drain?

  • We need a vent for our primal instincts... Most religions, in their belief that man is a superior race, should be free of them, and as such practice ways to suppress and hopefully eliminate them once and for all for the sake of spiritual purity and superiority. But can man truly be free from all of such vices? It is only human after all to err... So does it make you INhuman to reach a state of spiritual superiority?

    Everything has to come to an end one day, and so will the world as you see it. But boy is it head on when it says humans live for themselves.... But I ask you, which species does not live for itself? Even the smallest ant serves the colony for it cannot live alone, everyone lives for themselves alone. I may be so grand as to say that I'm living for the sake of the happiness of others, but that in itself becomes a selfish objective of oneself, a goal in life that you live towards that you create for yourself, and thus a selfish reason.

    Set your priorities straight, Kai. That's my only advice for you.

  • Hey KJ, do you ever think about that due to the presence of vegetarian, people come out with fake pork/chicken? And those who invented these maybe the non-vegtarian in order to assay earn money?

    Anyway, to track back, these weren't in the market decades back. It's just some people's marketing methods.

    Hence, when u said "Having a substitute isn’t that just an alternative to fulfill the desire of eating them. The desire alone is indirectly eating them, I should say." it becomes a assumption you made for the large population which is offensive for those who actually did not have that idea. It's quite on the surface and it affects your perception on people.

    Since when there are such on the market, people will definitely purchase them. It's after all veg. It's like when there's something new in market, wouldn't you try it if it's to your interest?

  • @ lex

    right so it seems i had miss out the desire vs interest part ~

    yea, all personal-thoughts are based on self-assumption, w/o a doubt, so tt's why we need a third person point view =]

  • @ contradictions

    Earth does not live for itself, it's eternal relative to us.

    selfish objective for oneself, it isn't selfish anymore as its a win-win situation, you gain they gain? its not 1-sided benefits ne?

    YEa i had to set my priorities right!

    @calvin
